The scriptures are a treasure chest of words that we can turn to when in need of instruction, inspiration, or encouragement.
Jesus, the perfect communicator, provided us with:
WORDS OF INSTRUCTION
PARABLES TO INSPIRE
COUNSEL TO ENCOURAGE
What a blessing these words are for us!
I have my own treasure chests of words.
When someone emails me a special thank you or a thoughtful compliment, I stash it away in a special file folder in my email account.
When I receive a written note in the mail, I add it to the growing collection of kind words carefully kept inside a ziploc bag.
When someone says something meaningful to me in person, I hurry home to record it in my journal.
These locations, with their priceless content of spoken and written words given to me by others, are my priceless “treasure chests of words” that I turn to when in need of encouragement.
Do you have a special place where you keep a record of kind words and encouragement–a “treasure chest of kind words”?
Today’s challenge is a three-part challenge, containing three simple but meaningful ways of creating a more authentic life.
First, spend a few minutes reading the instructive, inspirational, and encouraging word of God.
Second, start your own “treasure chest of words” by compiling meaningful words shared by others into a special place.
Third, add to another person’s “treasure chest of words” by extending a genuine compliment via email, snail mail, or in-person.
As we become more aware of the words we speak to others, as well as the words they share with us, we will grow in authenticity in our relationships with one another.
Day 4 Challenge: Read from the Word of God. Start your own “treasure chest of words”. Contribute to another person’s “treasure chest of words”.
In what way have the words of others instructed, inspired, or encouraged you?
