Stand tall and be courageous.
That’s a mighty tall order for a generation of believers living in an increasingly wicked world. But yet, the counsel still stands:
Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid. (Joshua 1:9)

Some time ago, our family was reading from the book “The Borrowers” when we were struck by the following words:
“…my brother said that, underneath, he thought they were frightened. It was because they were frightened, he thought, that they had grown so small. Each generation had become smaller and smaller, and more and more hidden.” (p. 9)
Our generation has been called to be the opposite of small and fearful; we have been called upon to stand tall and be courageous. Ours is meant to be a rising generation, not a hidden one.
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)
Not long ago, my daughter and I had an amazing conversation about courage. You can read about that conversation HERE.
The lyrics to the following song attest to the strength and conviction of this generation, especially the youth:
True To The Faith
Shall the youth of Zion falter
In defending truth and right?
While the enemy assaileth,
Shall we shrink or shun the fight? No!
(Chorus) True to the faith that our parents have cherished,
True to the truth for which martyrs have perished,
To God’s command,
Soul, heart, and hand,
Faithful and true we will ever stand.
While we know the pow’rs of darkness
Seek to thwart the work of God,
Shall the children of the promise
Cease to grasp the iron rod? No!
We will work out our salvation;
We will cleave unto the truth;
We will watch and pray and labor
With the fervent zeal of youth. Yes!
We will strive to be found worthy
Of the kingdom of our Lord,
With the faithful ones redeemed
Who have loved and kept his word. Yes!
