Are There Angels Among Us?

Angels. They’ve been on my mind lately, thanks to the experiences shared by those around me. My mind begs to ask the question:

“Are there really angels among us?”

The following experiences, shared by friends on social media, have helped to remind me that, yes, there are indeed angels around us, guiding us, protecting us. These shared experiences have helped me to become more aware of and more grateful for angels in my own life:

From a young mother:

“Being a wife and a mother is such a blessing! I am so grateful, but there are moments, days, weeks, and sometimes even months where it is hard for me to remember that this season of life is a joyful one and one I will miss. Sometimes the joy of raising a family is overshadowed by the busyness of life or other (less favorable) emotions that come along with parenthood.

I won’t go into details, but suffice it to say that we have been having one of those weeks….actually it seems we have been having those kind weeks for the past month.

Yesterday, I decided that enough was a enough. I was done feeling like there was a dark cloud looming above me. The never-ending list of “To Do’s” was just going to have to wait. I was going to be a “good mom” and take my children somewhere they could have fun…

We were driving along and [a] song came on. My daughter sang the opening line, “I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain.” But instead of singing the word “rainbows” she substituted it with the word “angels”. I laughed inside at her adorable mistake and then I felt the words she sang pierce my heart. “I like to look for angels whenever there is rain.”

Sometimes life is beautiful and sunny, often it is cloudy and stormy, but regardless of the weather God is always there and He will always send tender mercies or angels to lighten our day…we just have to looks for them. I found myself wondering, do I look for angels when there is rain? A lot of the time I’m paying too much attention to the clouds or the lightening to notice even the rainbows, let alone angels.

I have decided that I am going to do a little bit better and look a little harder for the angels God sends my way, especially when there is rain.”

From a mother of a teenager:

“[I] got a phone call around 6:30 from a lady saying that my son…was almost hit by a car while riding his bike to school. He’s a little banged up and the bike is unrideable, but it looks like he’s ok. I hopped in the car and hurried down to where they were. As I backed down the driveway, all I could think of was how grateful I was that he was being watched over and protected and wasn’t actually hit by a car. The only tears I shed were on my way back home praying to my Heavenly Father and the angels watching over my son and telling them my heart was full of gratitude…I just want to bear my testimony that I have an undeniable belief in our Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the angels around us. Watching over us. Protecting us. I’ve had a lot of circumstances in my life happen that have…proven to me that they are there. Sometimes to protect me or my family and sometimes just to let me know they were around. I am so incredibly grateful they are there.”

In what ways have angels blessed your life?

“I testify of angels, both the heavenly and the mortal kind. In doing so I am testifying that God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face.” ~ Elder Holland
